Customers say

Customers find the GPS watch to be an excellent activity tracker with accurate tracking capabilities, particularly noting its performance during city runs. Moreover, they appreciate its value for money and effectiveness, with one customer highlighting its training metrics and analysis features. However, the battery life receives mixed feedback, with several customers reporting issues with the charger cord. Additionally, functionality is also mixed, with one customer noting it works well even in sunny conditions.

A well rounded high quality Garmin watch
This is my first sports watch/smart watch ever. Selected Garmin over others mainly due to its long and worldwide association with sports & adventure activities. Expectations were obviously high with this purchase. However, I must say that I am not disappointed at all having been using this Forerunner 955 for about last two weeks on a daily basis. This is actually a very powerful tool loaded with almost every necessary feature out there any serious runner may ever need.1. All features working as advertised, no problem here.2. It’s colorful MIP display is really bright and crisp. There are no issues even on the most sunny days. I particularly find MIP much better than AMOLED. Simple and functional while being power efficient.3. Battery lasts anywhere between 12-15 days on moderate GPS usage; i.e. about 45-60 minutes per day. That’s really good.4. GPS locks quick and appears to be quite accurate as well. However, yet to check it in urban high rise jungles as well as real jungles. But given feedback from other sources, that should be a no issue.5. Touch screen and button combo is fantastic to use and provides welcome flexibility over single mode operation (touch or button). I particularly enjoy this.6. Although the case is of fiber, materials used are of high quality including strap as well. Full marks there.7. Charging is quick enough. Nil to full should take roughly around 1 hrs. Pretty on par, no complaints there.8. Training metrics and analysis is just amazing. Its really detailed and covers almost everything of interest even for a professional athlete. For me it has become a sort of motivation for daily training sessions.9. Garmin coach is really helpful and one can actually use it to improve their skills/performance. Already signed on to a target event.10. Only complaint that I have is no support at all for Garmin topographic maps in India. I specially picked this model for maps but sadly it just doesn’t work here in India. Although Garmin has just released Google maps support for turn by turn navigation but somehow I’m not able to set it up and an error messages pops up every time I try to connect it (someone pls help). Moreover, Google maps’ limited support can be no match for Garmin topographic maps especially for trails etc.11. Music, I don’t like on a watch. Haven’t used till date, won’t do so in future. So, can’t comments on this.12. Last but not the least, Amazon delivery was quick and great as always, well packed with high security seal. All in all, Forerunner 955 is a great choice even in 2025. It’s almost as good as 965 but comes with a significantly lower price tag and advantage of MIP display over AMOLED.Highly recommended. Thanks

A good replacement for Apple Watch
Pro1. Crazy battery life! Coming from an Apple Watch, the fact that I can continue to wear this for days, means I am at ease to use this watch without worrying about holding a charge2. Accuracy of the activity is spot on3. Integration with sensors like HR, power meter, cadence/ speed sensor is so convenient for anyone into sport activities. Apple’s connectivity is not so great for non-Apple products4. You can gamify your health improvement plans, with features like body health, training readiness.5. Tracking of HRV as a metric to check your cardio health during a training season is good for endurance athletes. Apple Watch doesn’t show that every easily, or I couldn’t find it as simple as in Garmin WatchCons – None at the moment. May revisit a few months laterThings to be aware of:1. You can’t use this watch a direct replacement for Apple Watch, if you want to be able to reply to messages, etc etc2. Screen isn’t AMOLED. It’s quite basic looking, but good to read in the sun3. Watch faces aren’t the best, but you can customise to make them simple4. You will lose your Apple activity streaks, once you replace your Apple Watch with this. I ended up losing my 500 day streak. So integration with Apple activities is meh5. You have to be into endurance sports to get this watch. Else you will not like it at all! It’s not a smartwatch with activity tracking, but it’s a sport activity watch, with smart watch capabilities. Huge difference!6. Solar charging is a supplement to charge, not a replacement. You can save some money with non solar version if you are average user of any sporting related devices.More updates once I test it out in an event.

    Watch for Serious Runners
I purchased Forerunner 955 after going through a lot of research. I wanted to upgrade from my Forerunner 245 Music which i was using it for more than 3 years. It was good and had a descent battery life but not good enough and often requires charging every 3-4 days. My requirement was to go for a watch with all the possible running dynamics and data and also with a long battery life and after 5 days of usage and 40+ km runs it still shows 40% battery. I am yet to charge it and I received the product with a battery charge of 74% !! So this can be easily used for Ultra runs which is a huge plus. I had also considered Forerunner 265 but other than display it had nothing extra to offer and the battery is also not that strong due to the high resolution display. In Amazon the difference is just around 3k for both these models but the running specific features provided by 955 is huge. I would highly recommend this product if you are serious into running.

    Excellent Activity Tracker
Switched from Apple Watch Series 7 to this and extremely happy with my decision. Easily lasts for 10 days with workout tracking. Bought for 55k during great Indian sale.

Charger Cord not working within 45 days of purchase!!
Not happy with the battery life and charger cord not working within 45 days of purchase.

    Low battery life
My watch is approx 1 month old. The battery dies in less than 2 days, while all battery draining features have been disabled by me.Also the solar charging doesn’t work at all, not even 1%

  8. Uday

Need to disable most functionality to get 20 day battery
Even regular GPS mode is pretty accurate for city runs. GPS tracking latency is very low as well (I was using tom tom adventurer before).

  9. Jun Hong

Purchased this watch to monitor my health stats and performance stats for running, the different functions were very insightful and useful for me too.
