I recently purchased the JBL Charge 5 from Amazon, and overall, I’m really happy with it. The sound quality is excellent, and the bass is deep and punchy, making it perfect for music lovers. Whether indoors or outdoors, the speaker delivers loud, clear, and immersive audio.The build is sturdy and rugged, plus it’s IP67 waterproof and dustproof, so it’s great for poolside or travel use. Disclaimer before review, I could not get to compare the charge 5 with any other Bluetooth speakers by auditioning before purchase. My only previous experience with bluetooth speakers is with an Onyx studio 6. When comparing the charge 5 to the studio 6, the latters sound quality is much better in terms of lower frequencies, and only slightly worse than the former in terms of mids and highs. But that is a much larger and less portable form factor. For the size and convenience, the JBL does a fine job. It’s a very good speaker for personal listening, with good clarity and detail in low volumes. For loud listening the lower frequencies are not very satisfying. The WiFi feature is purely for the added connectivity and freeing up the phone audio for other purposes. Sound clarity is better with bluetooth even though there is no aptx or ldac. I don’t understand why Spotify connect sounds worse than streaming directly via bluetooth, I had expected the opposite while purchasing. It’s not that its bad, just that BT audio is clearly superior. Overall it’s a worthwhile purchase, and it’s the only option that fits all my boxes of portability, brand reliability, and wifi connectivity, and quite often I find myself surprised at how well it plays songs that have strong midrange. Do your research before buying.

The unit is compact, produced good sound and well made- you would expect that from JBL.But I haven’t yet been able to figure out how to activate Alexa – even after linking my Amazon Prime account successfully. You need to download the app. I would have been happier if the festival discount had brought down the price to 10k. Battery life is good.

I use it when i travel in traffic and do not stay still on 1 spot for a long time. I do not have to worry about rain and i can hear stuff around me. When in traffic with an headphone or earbuds, even although you can hear stuff around you, you may get stopped by law enforcement (understandable).I heard the Charge 4 at a party and wanted one. I waited with buying a JBL Charge for a year. No regrets. My headphone and earbuds are from Bose but they are not (rain) water proof. I like the Bose sound a bit more but the price is not a bit more but a lot more for Bose.I didn’t bother using the WIFI part of my Charge 5. The bluetooth and pairing of devices work well. I can pair multiple devices and the Charge 5 can remember a list.One very little issue. These can go so loud that the range goes, relatively, big steps. So if when i wish to listen to them just before going to sleep, sometimes the volume is just to low or the next step too high 🙂 Unfortunately VLC on android has no separate volume control, like it has on Windows, as it directly controls the volume of the phone / tablet.
