I was intrigued to see that PGYTECH came out with a slim leather strap for mirrorless cameras. I tend not to be a fan of the thicker ones (personal preference).PGYTECH makes very high quality straps and mounts, and this leather quick release strap is no exception. Made of genuine leather on one side, and a sort of velvet material on the other (or brushed leather? but I don’t think so). The two materials are likely glued, but also pressed along the seams. The leather material is quite flexible, however, it’s got some bends in the material from shipping that seem like they will take some time to flatten out. There is a high quality cord which connects the leather strap to the camera that allow for adjustability of length. It actually weaves into the leather, which gives it increased strength and eliminates a single point of failure at the connection. The quick connect system is similar to that of other PGYTECH products, but MUCH MUCH smaller (see picture). I have a PGYTECH wrist strap for my mirrorless camera, and the balls are NOT interchangeable. I was a little disappointed at first, as I hoped to be able to flip between my wrist strap and neck strap. But alas, this is not doable… That being said, as I have used this with my Powershot V1, I really like the tiny balls. While attached to the camera they do not get in the way when disconnected from the neck strap. When I am making videos at my desk these quick connects are tight and discrete.Where does this fall short? (preference items really)While I’ve learned to like the smaller connector size on my point and shoot, that are slightly more difficult to connect. They are BY FAR easier than any other style of connector I’ve used. The connectors ARE quite secure, and very easy to disconnect, just slightly less convenient to connect than it’s bigger brother. The strap length is a touch on the long side. I don’t normally use neck straps so the camera is all the way down to my hip, but this would go even lower if you want! If you are a tall or large person, this will give you plenty of length. On the plus side, it is very easy to tighten/shorten the cord length, and then retain the cord. I wish there were a little less to start with, but not the end of the world. The quality of this strap meets my expectations, and my expectations were high. While the strap is a touch pricey, it’s got nothing to apologize for. No corners were cut, and you get a product that is highly functional, and feels great to use.

Great presentation when opening the package, this looks like it was supposed to be sold at a more high end camera shop. Pictured with a Nikon D5100, of which this strap is ideal for. (smaller, lighter camera that nonetheless needs a camera for basic use)Universal type of rope binder mounts using the two small rope dingles, and then these are connected to “balls” which then can go onto the ends of the strap. (Think of like a carabiner except in 3D) There’s one pair in black, and another in orange. See Picture three and four.Problem(s): the listing leads you to believe that you are getting more than one additional pair of connectors. Ideally they would have included three or four pairs, so that I can slip on this strap at will. With what’s included this strap can clip on and clip off of two separate cameras, which is okay but having the option for three would have been nicer.Secondly, thin straps are not compatible with the thicker “normal” straps that PGYTECH sells – which would have been really nice for those who have the normal version as well. (such as me)So for those two above reasons I’m going to deduct a star from what is otherwise a beautiful product. The strap will also obviously stain whatever is under it when wet initially.Overall a good value, though I wish it included additional camera connectors.

Summary:This is an amazing high quality option for a slimmer, more minimal strap. It is designed more for point and shoots, compact cameras, light mirrorless rigs, and day to day outdoor practical use. Despite being small, it’s packed with features and high quality durable materials! The quick change clips make it extremely easy to take your strap on and off. If that sounds like your use-case then I would highly recommend it.Features/Materials:It comes with four total balls (2 black and 2 orange) as well as 2 metal loops that you can put onto your camera if you misplaced yours which is really nice. The outside leather feels great and the part that rests on your neck seems like a soft velvet. It’s been really comfortable with my a6700 but will probably get annoying if worn for hours especially if you have a heavier setup. Everything is slimmed down compared to their regular models of straps but there is still a lot of practicality packed in like lots of loops for you to clip on accessories or keychains, a built in microfiber cloth that dangles and stuffs back into its pouch, adjustable length, and high quality materials.Potential Cons/Negatives:Okay this shouldn’t be a negative but I’ll address the elephant in the room because I know people love to hate on a product when they’re just not using it correctly: This strap is designed for and meant for smaller camera rigs; point and shoots or mirrorless cameras with shorter, lighter prime lenses. Although it CAN support up to 66 lbs (and I believe it from the materials quality), it would not be comfortable for long with how slim and thin the material that rests on your neck is. Although I don’t consider this a negative for the product, it might be a negative for you. But don’t blame the product, it’s just not designed for that, silly.Second, because the new clips/balls are smaller, it’s slightly annoying that they’re not interchangeable/reusable with their other thicker straps which have larger balls. (Don’t laugh). However, it only takes 30 seconds at most to swap them out if you want to switch to a thicker strap so it’s not a huge problem.Although the straps are very adjustable, they’re adjustable in an annoying way. I’m around 6 ft tall but I like to have my camera sitting up higher closer to my chest rather than dangling around my stomach/waist. Although this is possible with this strap, the only way to do it would be to pull the dangly straps really low which then leaves really long strings and leaves them dangling awkwardly where they can get in the way whenever you want to use the camera. Again, not a huge deal. I was able to tie a cute knot that looks pleasing that way the extra nylon isn’t just dangling loose. See my attached images.Overall, I love it! If you need a slim, minimal, EDC camera strap, just get it!

This is an elevated camera strap. From the quality to the extra features, this strap has amazed me. As a hobby street photographer and vlogger, I didn’t think much about straps other than to hold my camera around my neck. The little microfiber cleaning cloth is a game changer since I always forget to bring one with me. The ability to pop off the straps quickly is such a smart idea for more flexible shots. The quality of this is amazing. The design is beautiful. I didn’t think I would like the thin strap but since I only do street photography and my camera is mirrorless, the camera weight wasn’t noticeable. Overall, great product and the value is awesome. If you want to elevate your camera accessory game, this is the one to get.

I’ve been eyeing PGYTech products forever and finally pulled the trigger on this strap. What a great entry point into their lineup! The quick release ball mount system is incredibly smooth – you can attach and detach your camera one-handed. I’m using it with my M43 setup, and it’s perfectly sized for lighter mirrorless cameras. The leather feels premium and has that vintage look that makes your gear stand out. Really appreciate that they included a screen protector in the little pouch – those thoughtful touches show they get what photographers actually need.Like most PGYTech stuff, the design is just beautiful. It’s got that sleek, professional appearance that makes you feel good about your gear setup.Pros: Smooth quick-release system, premium leather construction, perfect for M43/lighter cameras, includes bonus screen protectorImprovements: Might be overkill if you just need a basic strap, designed specifically for lighter camerasRecommend for anyone with mirrorless or compact cameras who wants a premium strap that looks as good as it functions.
