Forget the photography conventions for 85mm. If you are doing conventional photography; then shooting with the Batis 1.8 is probably more suitable, but the Loxia 2.4 is a truly lovely creative lens, and has a truly lovely lens build compared to plastic Batis 1.8. It does have quirks like some barrel distortion(s) at edges, but if you are willing to work with its quirks you have true brilliance. Unfortunately I currently can’t have both a Loxia for creativity, and a Batis as a work horse.

Exceptional glass for the Sony system. Always a joy to use it. Really not much more is needed to be said. If you are okay with manual focus, I really don’t think there is a better overall combination of size, speed, build quality, weight, and image rendering at 85mm than this lens.
